Ethos and values Our ethos Our school has a strong ethos of encouraging our pupils to work for excellence in every endeavour, to develop an enquiring mind, and to acquire a love of learning. Whilst aiming for the highest standards of academic education, we also promote a strong moral ethos based on Christian principles to provide our pupils with a sound moral compass to conduct their lives within contemporary British life. The school nurtures the children in the best of British and Welsh values, and celebrates the Welsh language and culture as part of a wider Welsh community in London. Our mission statement Our school mission is to serve our community by providing an inclusive and safe environment where we work to enable our children to develop into confident lifelong learners and responsible global citizens. We follow the Welsh Curriculum which provides interesting and challenging opportunities to motivate our children. A love of learning is fostered through exploring, discovering and investigating cross curricular topics. Numeracy, Literacy and Digital Competency is embedded throughout all learning experiences and provides a foundation for children to reach their full potential, preparing them to become responsible global citizens and future leaders in an ever-changing world. Our schools aims to: To develop the skills of independence, resilience and the ability to solve problems so that they may navigate life beyond primary school To maintain a safe and happy environment in which all pupils have the opportunity to develop personally, physically, socially, academically and spiritually To teach a creative and stimulating curriculum with a wide range of learning experiences to meet the differing needs of individual pupils. To create a partnership with parents where they are actively engaged in their child’s education To provide a Christian based education but also learning and drawing from other world religions To ensure that every pupil has an equal opportunity to develop his or her potential Our values Excellence: We foster a culture of excellence in everything we do, encouraging our pupils to set high standards for themselves and achieve their personal best. We celebrate effort, resilience and the pursuit of knowledge. Respect: We promote respect for oneself, others, and the environment. We embrace diversity and encourage understanding, kindness and empathy. Integrity: We uphold the highest ethical standards, emphasising honesty, fairness and personal responsibility. Creativity: We foster a nurturing environment that encourages imagination, innovation and creative problem-solving. We celebrate diverse talents and encourage our pupils to express themselves through art and music. Growth: We promote a love of learning and continuous personal growth. We encourage our pupils to embrace challenges and learn from their mistakes. Community: We cultivate a strong sense of belonging and social responsibility fostering positive relationships between our pupils, staff and parents. Our vision It is our vision to be a reflective school that celebrates our strengths but also self-evaluates and strives to improve for the benefit of all our stakeholders and the community. By listening to others and considering stakeholders’ views throughout the process of developing, we will continue to offer a safe, inclusive and purposeful environment for our current and future pupils and staff. We recognise that the world is changing rapidly and by learning and developing, we shall continue to acquire expertise and create purposeful opportunities that develop and enrich our pupils’ educational experience. We have a long and strong track record for providing excellent Welsh medium education for our pupils in London since 1958 and through self-evaluation, collaboration and by evolving with the times, we envision continuing to do so for many years to come.
